Mill Creek Tower Erosion Repair
Milan, IL
Client: MidAmerican Energy Company
Designer: Missman Group
Contract Amount: T&M – Emergency Contract
Delivery Method: Design-Build
Summary:
This project involved the design and installation of an erosion control system to stabilize soil around a high voltage powerline tower near a creek. The creek’s rapid erosion was threatening to undermine the tower’s foundations. Our work included:
- Sheet Pile Cell: Installation of a 72-foot diameter sheet pile cell using 25-foot long PS 27.5 steel sheet piling, centered around the tower.
- Erosion Control: Replacement of vegetation within the cell with filter fabric and crushed stone.
- Foundation Support: Reinforcement of the undermined foundation to ensure stability.
These measures were implemented to prevent further erosion and protect the tower’s integrity.
